Natural Indigo(Qing dai)
Qingdai is the dried powder or conglomeration processed from leaves or stems of Baphicacanthus cusia (Nees)Bremek.,pertaining to Acanthaceae,Polygonum tinctorium Ait.,pertaining to Polygonaceae,or Isatis indigotica Fort.,pertaining to Cruciferae.The best is from Fujian Province,known as "Jian Qingdai".It is pounded into powder for medical purpose.
Medicinal Properties:Salty and bitter.
Meridian Tropism:Liver meridians.
Medicinal Efficacies: Clear heat and relieve toxicity;cool blood and resolve macula;clear liver,pure fire;tranquilize.
Usage and Dosage:1.5-3g.As indissoluble in water,usually it is used in pills or infused.Also it can be used externally.
