Plantain Seed(Che qian zi)

It is the dried mature seed of perennial herb,Plantago asiatica L.or Plantago depressa Willd.,family Plantaginaceae.The spike with seeds is collected in the spring and autumn season,when the seeds are ripe.It is then dried in the sunshine,rubbed and the seeds are gained,remove the impurity .The raw stir-baked form with salty water is utilized for medicine.

Medicinal Properties:Sweet and slightly cold.

Meridian Tropism:Liver,kidney lung and small intestine meridians.

Medicinal Efficacies:Promote diuresis to relieve stranguria;stop diarrhea;clear away liver-fire to improve vision;clear away lung to resolve phlegm.

Usage and Dosage: 9~15g.It is taken orally.Before being placed into the decoction it is wrapped with gauze.
