White Mulberry Root-bark(Sang bai pi)
It is the dried root bark of Morus alba L.,family Moraceae.The roots are dug and collected between late autumn when the leaves begin to fall and next spring before they sprout.They are cut open vertically after the yellow-brown coarse barks are scraped away,and the barks are peeled off and collected to be dried in the sun.They are cut into tiny slices to be used in raw form or after stir-baked with honey.
Medicinal Properties:sweet and cold.
Meridian Tropism:lung meridian.
Medicinal Efficacies:Purge lung to relieve dyspnea;induce diuresis to alleviate edema.
Usage and Dosage:6~12g.The raw are used to purge lung,induce diuresis,clear fire and pacify liver.The stir -baked with honey are used to treat lung deficiency causing cough.
