Syndrome of Heart Qi Deficiency-心气虚证

The Syndrome of Heart Qi Deficiency is usually caused by poor health in chronic disease, congenital deficiency, declining Zang Qi in aged people and injury to the healthy Qi in a serious illness.

Clinical Manifestations: Palpitation, chest distress, shortness of breath, lassitude, worse when active, spontaneous sweating, pallor, pale tongue with white coating and weak pulse

Syndrome Analysis: Insufficient heart Qi and lowered function lead to palpitation. The heart is located in the chest. Pectoral Qi fails to work well because of deficient hart Qi, causing chest distress and shortness of breath. Lassitude is due to the heart's lack of nourishment. Qi is consumed when active, resulting in deterioration. Sweat is the fluid of the heart, so deficient heart Qi leads to spontaneous sweating due to hypofunction of the superficial portion of the body. Pale complexion, pale tongue with white coating and weak pulse are due to deficient Qi in pushing blood, and insufficient Qi and blood.

Treatment: Normally tonifying hear and replenishing Qi, the prescription like nourishing heart decoction is used. Patent Drug like Bozi Yanxin Pill/Capsule is also widely used.
