Barbary Wolfberry Fruit(Gou qi zi)
This medicinal is the dried ripe fruit of the machaka Lycium barbarum L.(Fam.Solanaceae)and those produced in Ningxia are of the best quality.The fruit is collected in the summer and autumn when the fruit appears salmon pink.Then it is dried in the shade,until the peel gets wrinkled.Then,it is dried by natural sunlight until the peels get hard and dry with the pulp being still soft.It is utilized in its unprepared form.
Medicinal Properties:sweet and neutral.
Meridian Tropism:liver and kidney meridians.
