Nardostachys Root(Gan song)
It is the root and rhizome of Nardostachys chinensis Batal.or Nardostachys jatamansi DC.,family Valerianaceae.The roots and rhizome are dug and collected in spring and autumn.After the residue and fibrous roots are removed,they are dried inn the sunshine or in shade.The raw are used.
Medicinal Properties:Pungent,sweet and warm.
Meridian Tropism:spleen and stomach meridians.
Medicinal Efficacies:Promote qi flow to relieve pain;remove stagnation and active spleen.
Usage and Dosage: 3~6g.It can be used externally,soaked for gargling,decocted for washing feet,or ground into powder to apply on the affected part.
