Figwort Root(Xuan shen)
Xuanshen is the dried root of Scrophularia ningpoensis Hemsl.,pertaining to Scrophulariaceae.It is collected in winter when the plant wither.After removing rhizome,plumule,fibrous root,earth and sands,it is sun dried or baked until half dried.After that,it is piled up for 3~6days,and this is repeated for several times until fully dried.The raw form is used.
Medicinal Properties:Sweet,bitter,salty and slightly cold.
Meridian Tropism:Lung,stomach and kidney meridians.
Medicinal Efficacies:Cool blood,nourish yin;purge fire,and relieve toxicity.
Usage and Dosage:10-15g.
