Light-yellow Sophora Root(Ku shen)
Kushen is the dried root of Sophora flavescens Ait.,pertaining to Leguminosae.It is collected in spring and fall.After the root tail and small branch root are removed,it is washed and then dried.Also it can be cut into slices when it is fresh,and the dried.The raw form is used.
Medicinal Properties:Bitter and cold.
Meridian Tropism:Heart,liver,stomach,large intestine and bladder meridians.
Medicinal Efficacies: Clear heat,dry dampness;dispel wind,relieve itching,kill worms and promote urination.
Usage and Dosage:4.5-9g.Also it can be used externally.
