This medicinal is the gypsum,pertaining to anhydrite of sulfate,mainly containing hydrous calcium sulfate(CaSO4•2H2O).Superior Shigao is obtained from Yincheng,Hubei Province.t is collected in all seasons.After removing earth,sands and stones,it is grounded into power for raw use or calcined for use.
Medicinal Properties:Sweet, Pungent and extremely cold.
Meridian Tropism:Lung and stomach meridians.
Medicinal Efficacies: Clear heat,pure fire;relieve agitation,stop thirst;heal wounds and promote tissue regeneration.
Usage and Dosage: 15-60g.It is decocted first.For external application,it is calcined and ground into powder.
