The source is from the hadromestome of roots of Tripterygium wilfordii Hook.f.,family Celastraceae.It is dug in the autumn,dried in the sun or with skin removed.It is cut into thick pieces and the crude one is used for medication.

Medicinal Properties:Bitter,pungent,cool and extremely toxic.

Meridian Tropism:Liver and kidney meridians.

Medicinal Efficacies: Expel wind,remove dampness;active blood,unblock collaterals;clear heat and toxicity.

Usage and Dosage:1-5g.Decocted with slow fire by for over two hours.Just right amount can be pounded or ground into powder for external application and the application time does not exceed half and hour.
