Baizhi is the dried root of Angelica dahurica(Fisch.ex Hoffm.)Benth.et Hook.f.or Angelica dahuriea(Fisch.ex Hoffm.)Benth.et Hook,f var.formosana(Boiss.)Shan et Yuan.,pertaining to Umbelliferae.It is collected in summer and autumn with yellow leaf.After the fibrous root,earth and sand are removed,it is sun dried or dried in low temperature,and then cut into slices.The raw form is used.
Medicinal Properties: Pungent and warm.
Meridian Tropism: Lung,stomach and large intestine meridians.
Medicinal Efficacies: Dispel cold,release superficies;dispel wind,stop pain;open nose;dry dampness and stop leucorrhea ;cure swelling and expel pus.
Usage and Dosage: 3-9g.
