Pearl(Zhen zhu)

Zhenzhu is the pearl from Pteria martensii(Dunker),Hyriopisis cumingii(Lea),Cristaria plicata (Leach),or the bivalves,pertaining to Pteriidae,usually caused by stumuli.The former is generated from sea,of which the superior is fron Hepu area,Guangdong province.The latter two kinds are generated from fresh water.It is collected it all the year round.After taken from the body,it is washed,dried,and then refined with water or ground into fine powder.

Medicinal Properties:sweet,salty and cold.

Meridian Tropism:liver and heart meridians.

Medicinal Efficacies: Tranquilize;improve vision,clear nebula;remove toxin and promote tissue regeneration.

Usage and Dosage: For oral administration,it is used in powder and pill,with dosage of 0.1~0.3g.Also it is used externally.
