Hematite(Zhe shi)
Zheshi is the hematite,pertaining to corundum of oxides ore.As it is mainly from Shanxi province(known as Dai Shire in ancient time),often it called"Daizheshi".After removing other stones,it is pounded.The raw form is used or after tempered in vinegar and ground into powder.
Medicinal Properties:bitter and cold.
Meridian Tropism:liver and heart meridians.
Medicinal Efficacies: Pacifying liver and subdue yang;clear adverse rise of qi with heavy settling;cool blood and stop bleeding.
Usage and Dosage: 10-30g.It is pounded and then decocted first when it is used in decoction.When it is used in pills and powders,the dosage is 1~3g.Also it is used externally.For checking adverse rise of qi and pacifying liver,the raw form is used,while for stop bleeding it is used after calcined.
