Sea-ear Shell(Shi jue ming)
Shijueming is the shell of Haliotis diversicolor Reeve,Haliotis discus hannai Ino,Haliotis ovina Gemelin,Haliotis rube(Leach),Haliotis asinine Linnaeus,or Haliotis laevigata(Donovan),pertaining to Haliotidae.It is collected in summer and fall.After the flesh is removed,it is washed and dried.The raw form is used or after calcined.It is pounded for administration.
Medicinal Properties:salty and cold.
Meridian Tropism:liver meridians.
Medicinal Efficacies: Pacifying liver and subdue yang;clear liver and improve vision.
Usage and Dosage: 3-15g.It is pounded and decocted early when it is used in decoction.It is used in the raw form to subdue or clear the liver.For eye drops,it is calcined and refine with water.
