The contents of specific therapeutic methods are very rich. Cheng Zhongling, a medical practitioner in the Qing Dynasty, summarized the classifcation of medical practitioners at all dynasties from the angles of general therapeutic methods in his book Yi Xue Xin Wu(Insight into Medicine). In the book, he classifies various therapeutic methods into eight therapeutic methods: " diaphoresis, mediation, purgation, resolving, emesis, elimination, warning and tonification"
