Alum(Bai fan)

It is the refined product of mineral Alunite of sulphate,mainly containing potassium aluminium sulfate.The medicinal material can be dug and collected all the year round.After the alunite is dissolved in the water,it is filtered,heated and concentrated ,the crystal can be separated out and obtained after being cooled.The raw or calcined form is used for medication.

Medicinal Properties:sour,astringent and cold.

Meridian Tropism:lung,spleen,liver and large intestine meridians.

Medicinal Efficacies:Clear away toxin and kill parasites;absorb dampness to relieve inching when externally used;stop bleeding and diarrhea;dispel wind-phlegm when used internally used.

Usage and Dosage: 0.6~1.5g.It is processed into pills or powder.Its amount should be proper for external applications,it can be used to the local area by washing after being dissolved,or its powder can be applied to the local area or mixed with water.
