Sodium Sulfate(Mang xiao)

The Chinese medicinal is the refined crystalline sodium sulphate,usually made from natural source,natrii sulfas as its chief component.The natural source are melted in the hot water,filtered and cooled to separate crystals out.The products are generally called Pixiao.Then they are boiled together with levigated turnip chips and superjacent fluid is taken out to cool.The crystals separated out are Mangxiao.Mangxiao can become white powder named as Xuanmingfen by efflorescence.

Medicinal Properties:Salty,bitter and cold.

Meridian Tropism:Stomach and large intestine meridians.

Medicinal Efficacies: Soften dried feces to induce downward discharging;clear heat;dissipate swelling.

Usage and Dosage:6-12g.It is dissolved in a decoction or in boiling water to use orally.The appropriate amount is for external use.
