Giant typhonium tuber(Bai fu zi)

This medicinal,also called Yubaifu,is the dried tuber of Typhonium giganteum Engl,family Araceae.The tubers are dug and collected in autumn and winter.After the fibrous roots and the skin are removed,they are fumigated with sulphur once or twice and then dried in the sunshine.They can also be sliced after they are processed with alum and fresh ginger.

Medicinal Properties:pungent,warm and toxic.

Meridian Tropism:stomach and liver meridians.

Medicinal Efficacies:Dry dampness and resolve phlegm;dispel wind and control convulsions;remove toxin and dissipate nodulation.

Usage and Dosage:3~6g.It is usually used after it is processed.The appropriate amount of medicinal can be pounded thoroughly,cooked into paste or ground into powder to mix with liquor for external application.
