Cowherb Seed(Wang bu liu xing)

It is the mature seed of Vaccaria segetalis (Neck.)Garcke,family dianthus.The one produced in Xingtai,Hebei Province is of the best quality.The plants are cut during the summer when the fruit is mature,while the pericarp still not crazed.It is then dried in the sunshine,and the seeds are thrashed after the impurities are removed.It can be utilized as a medicine in its raw or stir-baked form.

Medicinal Properties:Bitter and neutral.

Meridian Tropism:liver and stomach meridians.

Medicinal Efficacies:Active blood and open meridians;promote lactation and cure abscess;relieve stranguria.

Usage and Dosage: 5~10g.The appropriate amount is used for external application.
