Great Burdock Achene(Niu bang zi )

Niubangzi is the dried mature fruit of Arctium lappa L.,pertaining to Asteraceae.After the infructescence is collected in fall when the fruit is ripe,it is sun dried,and then threshed to collect the fruit.After the impurities are removed,the fruit is sun dried.The raw form is used for medication or after stir-baked.It is pounded for use.

Medicinal Properties: Pungent,bitter and cold.

Meridian Tropism: Lung and stomach meridians

Medicinal Efficacies: Disperse wind-heat;ventilate lung,resolve phlegm;promote eruption,soothe the throat;relieve toxicity and resolve swelling.

Usage and Dosage: 6-12g. After stir-baked,its property of bitter and cold,and efficacy to smooth intestine would be slightly reduced.
