Wuweizi is the ripe fruit of Schisandra Chinensis(Turcz.) Baill., family Magnoliaceae. It is usually called "Bei-Wuweizi". The medicinal material is collected in autumn when the fruit is ripe and dried in the sunshine. The raw form or the fruit steamed with vinegar and honey form is used for medication.

Medicinal Properties: Sour, sweet and warm.

Meridian Tropism: Lung, heart and kidney meridians

Medicinal Efficacies: Astringe and strengthen; benefit qi and promote the production of body fluid; tonify the kidney and calm the mind.

Usage and Dosage: 3-6g, taken orally. Also it is ground into powder 1-3g

Precautions: It is not suitable for those with exterior pathogen factors which have not been eliminated and sthenic heat in the interior, manifesting as cough and measles, in the initial stage.
